A Boordy Saturday

This Saturday, our friend Ed, Nick and myself all went to Boordy winery to enjoy some wine, food and big band/jazz music/swing music. We managed to find ourselves a perfect spot up on the hill to enjoy the festivities. They offered a half hour of swing dance lessons before the band started to play while we enjoyed our dinner and wine. We were having a great time people watching right up until it started to sprinkle. We stopped on the way out to buy a couple more bottles to continue the night back at our place. It was lucky we left when we did as it really started to rain just as we got to the car.

We continued the night of fun with Bananagrams, Blues Brothers and wine. It was a perfect Saturday night!

Bike ridin' afternoon

After being incredibly lucky and having Nick take Friday off, we just hung out around the house. Finally in the afternoon and realizing we hadn't done a thing all day, and it was a great afternoon, we decided to take the bike out for a 40 mile ride. It was a great ride except the the sun started to dip down towards the end and we got a little chilled. We stopped and dropped something off to one of Nick's friends who was kinda enough to get a picture of us in all our gear on the bike :)

Here's Nick, striking a pose by his pride and joy. He's so darn cute :)

We really haven't done to much this past week. I had to work the weekend, but Nick managed to get out and go climbing down in Great Falls, Va. with one of his friends from work and a climbing buddy from Germany.
Nick and I've been trying to find ways to work out together but it's difficult because he's a runner and I'm definately not. I'm a bike rider and he's defiantely not. So, we've found a good mix while taking Bella for a walk. I'll use arm weights to tone up my arms for the wedding and Nick's beefing up his ruck marching skills by packing on a 70 lb ruck sack and walking in his boots. Since I can't control Bella and use the arm weights at the same time.....THIS is the result:

Wine and climbing

So, let's get started!!!!

This past Saturday, Nick and I went to Boordy winery for some dinner, wonderful wine, and big band music. We've been there in the winter before but we had no idea how big of an event this was!!! We got there right when the music started and the place was already packed! So we set up camp, spread out our blanket on the hill and went straight for the catered food tent. We each choose an amazing blackend salmon with butter rice and then headed over to the wine barn were we bought a bottle of their Pinot Noir (our favorite). After our little picnic we played a game of scrabble (I won) on our travel board and watched the sunset in the vineyard all with a live band playing in the backgound. We plan on returning in 2 weeks and becoming regulars! It was so much fun!!!

On Sunday we went climbing with some people I work with. We went to Rocks State Park and had just a beautiful day for being outside. Being newer to the area, Nick and I are always looking for new places to check out and we both enjoy outdoor climbing.

Nick always seems to be so graceful...

and here I am trying to haul my butt up the rock.

Here's the crew!!! Rocky and Josh...

And our fearless leader, John.

It was helpful having someone who is from Maryland and who has had years of experience climbing in the area.

Welcome

Living so far away from our friends and family, we never seem to be able to talk to everyone that we want as often as we want. So, Nick and I thought this would be a great way to share pictures and our lives with everyone. Since we take lots of pictures and my mom is always saying she can't open them up in her email....I figured this would be a lot easier for everyone :)
