Many Faces of Brenna at 2

Bwenna Bean Wogers

We also had Brenna's 2 year check up at the Drs today.  She was 30lbs (85%) and 33.5 inches (50%).  She doesn't look chubby, just perfectly soft.  She's already drinking the 2% milk and has a great appetite still.  She is nearly in 3T clothes.  Her hair is filling in more and more and we can get a little pony tail going on top now :)

She was very chatty all the way to the hospital about how we were going to the Drs house.  She counted to 4 (even though she usually gets to 6), said stethoscope (or something close to it) and talked about her pretty necklace.  It was all fun and games until we had to get her blood pressure, height and weight.  Lots and lots of tears and tight hugs.  I'm not real sure what all the fear was about but she was acting all tough out in the waiting room while we waited for Jace's turn.  Until a Dr came out to call someone's name.  Then she would come running back to us and flop on the seat.

Brenna is starting to get into being a big sister.  At times.  When it suits her.  Sometimes she wants to play with Jace, sometimes she wants what he is playing with.   She is talking up a storm and sings all day long.  She likes to 'talk' on  her play phone and I'll often hear 'Hi mimi.  How's papa?'  We show pictures and talk about family members often.  She's always happy to see Uncle Monkey, Aunt Bear, Uncle Tony Bear, Aunt Di and Aunt Caite. She loves to talk about herself, too.  Bwenna Bean Wogers.  She was naming all her animals and giving them the last name of Wogers...so cute.  Horsey Wogers, Owl Wogers....

I can almost get her to smile on command for the camera now.  Almost.

She still loves her books and while we don't read all day, everyday like we used to, we still read about 5 books a day.  When I clean, I find books hidden under the couch, under pillows and high on shelves.... the ones Nick is tired of reading!  ha!

She loves being silly with her daddy!  She is intrigued by his workouts and tries so hard to imitate him.  She also likes to dabble in a little yoga with mama.  She flopped on the kitchen floor this morning while I was cooking breakfast and said 'yoga.'  Yea, it probably does look just like that too!  haha :)

6 months!

It is so hard to believe Jace is 6 months old already!  I cannot believe how fast time is going and how busy life is :)  We had his 6 month check up today and he is 27.8 inches tall (85%) and weighs 18.6lbs (63%).  He handled his shots like a champ, only cried for a few seconds.  We knew he was gonna be tall because he is already too long for most of his size 9 month pajamas and we're transitioning out of his 6 months clothes, his pants are getting shorter and shorter!

He went right for Rex when we set up for this picture.  As soon as I sat him down, he grabbed him and shoved his head in his mouth!  Such a drooly guy!

Pretty much everything goes in his mouth and he has marked all his toys with drool (it's how he keeps his big sis away from his toys!).  He has a pretty significant rash under his chin from all the drool, we're changing his bib 5+ times a day to try to keep him dry.  Nick doesn't understand how he's not dehydrated from all the drool he looses.  haha!  Still no teeth yet, I'm hoping the drool will ease up once they pop through.

Jace is sitting up really well and rarely falls over.  Sometimes Bella acts as a little motivator.  Although, it is probably pay back for the times Jace gets a hold of Bella's fur (and skin and whatever else his little death grip clenches on to.)

Jace has mastered his skills, but really doesn't feel like showing them off very often.  He's been able to roll over for weeks now but just recently have we found him in different positions in the mornings.  Most of the time, he is right where I put him down.  Every once in awhile, he must have some crazy dreams or something because he is on his belly, facing the opposite direction with the mirror in hand.  Pretty funny.

He doesn't seem to have much interest in crawling, doesn't even try to get up on all 4s when he's on his belly.  But he sure loves to stand.  I can put him up near a stool with some toys and he'll stay like that twice as long as he'll tolerate his tummy time.  He hasn't tried to take any steps or step like motions, so I think we'll be safe for awhile!

He's been eating like a champ, too.  At times he'll take over 40 ozs in a day (average is 32) and he's willing to try anything I make, just like his sis at this age.  I am using the same cook book so it's easy to make and freeze a nice variety of foods for him.  He's currently enjoying lentils, carrots, potatoes, coriander and OJ.  He gobbles up sweet potatoes, cauliflower, carrots, peas, potatoes, apples, pears, mangoes, peaches, bananas, oatmeal and rice.  Tonight we'll try chicken, leeks and rice.

He is a really happy little guy and has the loudest laugh!  He loves to be tickled and snuggled but when it's time for bed, he is so fussy!  He rarely falls asleep in my arms anymore, which is a little sad but I'm so thankful he is sleeping in his own bed through the night!

We had a little 1/2 birthday party for him!  He smashed that little half cupcake...but didn't take one bite!

Brenna singing

So this blog doesn't have a whole lot of visual appeal, but ohhhh the sweet sound of a baby singing....

Here we have twinkle twinkle, her current fav.  She got a hold of Nick's jump rope yesterday and was using it as a microphone to sing into in the yard.  Free neighborhood concert!

Brenna really loved 'Happy Birthday' and serenading herself.

Brenna is also really good at identifying animals.  I love her little voice :)

Brenna's 2nd Birthday!

She woke up all smiles!  She's been singing 'Happy birthday to you' for at least a week now.  I'm not convinced that she actually knows what this means, but she gets a huge smile on her face whenever we sing it.
Her yearly bear picture.  She has finally made peace with the scary bear and can now say all his lines along with him.  So cute to hear her repeating 'peek a boo' (peek a you)

Princess Brenna with her crown and pretty dress

Brenna loved the decorations and ooOOOooo'd at everything.  There were balloons and streamer.  She thought it was all very fancy, I'm sure.  Of course she was most excited about the cupcakes and rice crispie treats.

When time came for the birthday song, she loved it and even blew out her own candle.  Then promptly grabbed the still smoking wick.  Ouch!  No tears, though.  She went right for the cupcake, no hands.  She probably didn't want to get her hands dirty.  haha!
She figured out she could reach the rice crispie treats and we're actually not sure how many of those she ate....

She had a lovely tea party with her friends Maggie and Ellen.  They came in full garb with tiaras and dresses.  Ready to party!  Brenna did have a little trouble sharing at the end but really enjoyed the tea party.  She had a blast trying to keep up with Maggie running around the yard.

Another rice crispie treat down the hatch....

Here are the kids and my friend Maria.  We were all exhausted by the end of the 3 hours!

Jace is starting to play

Jace is starting to really get interested in things.  Although he would still rather spend most of the day in my arms, he does like to steal a good book from his sister now and then.

He was so determined to get the little red flower on his play station.  You can see his little mouth, he sucks on his upper lip when he's tired or concentrating really hard.  So cute!

Frog legs anyone?  The moment he gets something in his hands, it is a direct line to his mouth.  Brenna is so disgusted by everything being so 'slimey' when Jace touches it, she won't touch anything after him!

Jace fell asleep at the end of dinner.  It was so cute.  He just grabbed my hand, brought it to his head and nodded off.  We always see cute pictures of kids that fall asleep in random places, but Brenna was never one of those kids.  I think we got one!!  haha

Brenna's last week as a 1 year old

Brenna is just starting to get the idea of 'make believe' and dressing up.  She is a big fan of impromptu tea parties and loves to put on pretty things.  Especially shoes.  You can just see her posture change and she walks different.  She will even tell you 'pretty' when she likes her outfit and especially the shoes...

My sweet little girl is such a light sleeper, but I must have caught her in a deep REM sleep.  I took about 8 pictures with flash and she slept through them all.  I was actually trying to wake her up gently.  You can see  just a hint of a scowl from the flash in some of these pics.  Her little cheeks are just so soft!

And we have our first pony tail!  Her hair is so thin and wispy, but we got it up and she will leave it for a few hours.  There isn't enough hair on the sides to pull up anymore, but it's real cute and sticks straight up!  haha.  She won't let me put a bow in it yet.  I'll keep trying!!
