6 weeks +

Jace is growing so fast!!  He is getting softer and his cheeks are filling out.  He's a great eater and sleeper.  He is so curious, always looking around.  He hasn't rolled over again after last week but he still loves his tummy time.  He's been sleeping well (in about 3-4 hour blocks at night and occasionally 6 hours).  He really likes his pacifier and has on occasion found his little thumb.

Brenna loves to help cover him up and give him his pacifier.  Sometimes, she just takes it right back out though.  hehe.  She is really good about letting people know when he is sleeping and when you talk she immediately says "shhhhh."  Of course, she loves to yell at nap time, so I guess the rules don't apply to her.

A little daddy/son bonding.

I can just hear him 'roaring' like Brenna here...of course he was just yawning.

He's getting more interested in toys and swats the little bugs that hang down.  He's also grabbed a clump of my hair a couple times.  I don't think he's noticed his hands yet, but I think it'll be real soon.

The kids being silly.

Brenna is now running story time herself and bringing along Mr Clown and Rex.  They have been constantly by her side for about a week now.

No one can make her smile and giggle like Bella.  I have about 10 pictures of her cracking up with Bella sitting next to her licking her cheek.  So cute!!

Brenna is so observant with what I do with Jace and she is all business.  She tries to give her dolly the pacifier and changes diapers.  She was giving her baby a drink here.

The pictures look like all fun and games, but holy cow...Brenna has been really struggling (I keep trying to remember it's her having a hard time, not her giving us a hard time).  I think in the last 2 weeks I've got a handle on the hitting.  The screaming is better (darn near got the better of me) but not quite under control yet.  At points where it got too out of control (before I lost it), I put her in her bed for a time out and left the room.  I only did it twice (Nick did once) but it seems to have caused a little bedtime anxiety for her.  Ugh.  So, we now have a timeout stool and it's in a neutral spot.  Of course I haven't had to use it yet.  Hopefully we'll get back to loving our bed and reduce the negative behavior soon!!

5 weeks

I had forgotten to post the picture of Jace with his Rex.  Since Brenna had the bear to compare size with, I thought Jace would appreciate this.  He's so big compared to Brenna at a month old!

I had Jace sitting up to watch me in the kitchen and when I turned around, Brenna  had covered his lap with a blanket and was trying to put a pacifier in his mouth.  Whether he wants it or not, she tries to shove that thing in.

And our big moment of the week...Jace turned over.  3 times.  He was looking like such a big guy stretching his head waaaaay up.

And I turned around and he had rolled.  I thought it was a fluke, so I rolled him back to his belly and he rolled to the other side.  Then did it again.  Of course he hasn't done it since, but it was pretty exciting at the time :)

Jace is also quite a scooter.  Often, in the matter of just a few minutes, he has squirmed his way off his tummy time mat.  All under the pretense of sleeping.  He's a stealth little guy!

1 month

Mr Jace is 1 month old!!!  I can't believe how time flies....

Jace is doing baby things...eating, sleeping and pooping.  He is such a good little guy.  He hardly every cries, even during his bath and most diaper changes (when the AC ALWAYS kicks on while he is naked getting his diaper changed).  He's in a great routine of only waking up to feed a couple times during the night.  Actually, he eats around 9pm, 2am and 6am.  I am amazed that the first month went so well.

He's been trying since the first week to hold his head up.  It's gotten a lot better and he loves tummy time.  He's lay on his belly all day if I let him.  Most days I even let him nap that way.  He enjoys  his pacifier and is most relaxed laying on on my chest sleeping.  He is starting to track with his eyes.  I think he already went through a little growth spurt.  He's been out of his newborn clothes for the last week, even when he was born, he was so long that he barely fit into some of his onesies.

He's a great eater (and very efficient as most feedings only take about 5 minutes) and has gained some weight.  Jace is still a skinny guy but is just starting to fill out.  He's such a cutie!

At his 2 week check up, he weighed 8.12 lbs (43%) and is 21.26 inches tall (63%), his head isn't as big (statistically) as Brenna's.

19 months

Brenna is 19 months old!

She just had a Drs appointment and weighs 24.15 lbs (52%) and is 32.2 inches tall (56%), her head is still huge, in the 85% hehe.

She is such a fun little girl.  I had no idea that a baby under 2 could be so much fun!  She loves to talk and negotiate, but all in her baby language.  She is just starting to copy what we say, one word at a time.  We just added 'knee' to her vocabulary.  She is still a bit behind in talking but is still making progress.  She can say hi, eye, knee, please, thank you, dojo (random, I know), Bella, mama, dada (although, she still refuses to say it most times), pop, wow, bow...and I'm sure there are a few more.  She makes a bunch of animal noises and gets excited when she sees animals on TV or in life.  Nick bought a few Disney movies to start a collection for the kids.  The first movie we got was The Lion King.  It held her attention for a majority of the time.
Brenna is very into shoes and accessories.  She loves to go into my closet and pull out a pair of shoes to clip-clop around in.  What I think is so funny is that she is usually very pigeon toed, but put her in a pair of high heels and she is a little lady!
She has 16 teeth, just waiting on the last 4 molars, which should come in around 24 months.  She loves to suck on her toothbrush and brush my teeth.  Not so much brushing hers.  She is wearing 24 month clothes already, most of the pants are still baggy and the PJs are getting snug.
Brenna is such a copycat.  She loves to work out like daddy (shoulder shrugs), do yoga with mommy (stretches), she can bow and do the triangle (dad is starting jiu jitsu early), and will try to say most things.  She loves to hug and kiss (but only on her terms) and unfortunately loves to hit and kick.  We are trying so hard to stay patient and consistent but boy is it frustrating.  She hits us, herself, Bella, the couch and pretty much anything near.  She is also so sweet to Jace.  She loves to give him his pacifier and pat his head.  She covers him with a blanket and pats his belly.  It's wonderful to watch and I only hope that it continues!

Singing in the rain....

We had a good rain the other day and since Brenna loves it when we sing 'Singing in the Rain' to her...we thought it would be appropriate to try it out.  Her face (as usual) was priceless!

After the inital shock of the rain, she got into it and had a great time!

Dancing with daddy in the rain.  So cute!

pacifier

Brenna really likes to help out when Jace is crying (and sometimes when he's not) to put his pacifier in his mouth. This time she noticed that if she stuck her finger in, she could feel him biting on it.

Here is typical Brenna babbling on in her baby language all about what her finger felt like and showing us how to use the pacifier.

Bloopers

Trying to get a picture of Brenna and Jace together ended up being such a funny photo shoot...I had to put all the out-takes here for all to see.  Brenna's little face just cracks me up!

You would have thought there was a whole room full of people that she was playing up to.  I'm not even sure what she's looking at in some of them.

I finally laid Jace in her lap and after a moment of panic and trying to push him off her lap, she was checking out his outfit and patting his head.

Going in for the kiss.  So sweet!
