21 weeks

I feel like this pregnancy is moving fast...and other times I feel like it's taking forever!  It really is very different the second time around in that we are both a lot more comfortable with all the changes we are gonna face (again).  It's nice having an idea of what to expect also.  We've talked some about names and kind of how things are gonna work, like keeping the baby in our room for awhile and then having the kids share a room until they are a bit older.  Of course we are basing all this off of how Brenna was as a newborn.  LB could have completely different plans for us.  I think that was what made it (relatively) easy with Brenna is that we just had no idea what to expect so we were completely open to whatever happened.  Hopefully we can be that open for LB :)

LB is the size of a carrot this week.....about 7 inches head to toe and weighs about a  quarter of pound.  He is a MOVER.  This child actually kept me awake for a few hours 2 nights ago.  I could see my belly moving and he must have kicked my stomach a couple times because there was a big move and I was immediately nauseous for a brief time.  LB's taste buds are forming and he is just starting to taste what I eat in the amniotic fluid he swallows.

growing

My parents came for a visit this past week and we had a great time checking out San Antonio and playing with Brenna.  Apparently I didn't get many (or any) pictures of my parents, but here are a few highlights of the week....

We went to check out the Riverwalk on a beautiful warm, sunny day....We were just getting ready to leave when Brenna had had enough.  She pulled her hat down (multiple times as we kept trying to adjust it for her) and fell asleep (once we left her alone)  I love the cute little chub on her arms and legs.  She was really well behaved and had a great time.

Brenna is still very into books.  There are times when she gets quiet and when I find her, she's on her belly, legs kicking, reading a book.  It's awesome.  She loves book time before her naps and is just starting to point familiar things out.

Nick went to put Brenna down for a nap for me one afternoon and when he didn't come out after a reasonable amount of time, I decided to go check it out.  It was so sweet to see Daddy/Daughter time.  XOXO

Brenna still isn't saying any words other than 'go' which we still haven't figured out if it actually means 'go' or 'no'  hehe.  She is really starting to have conversational babble.  She will point and talk anytime, anywhere and seems so interested in everything.  It's really fun to go outside with her and explain to her whatever she points at.  So darn cute!

20 weeks! Halfway :)

I'm still feeling pretty good.  Eating and drinking are still a challenge but I've finally passed my pre pregnancy weight.  I'll probably just gain everything after I have the baby, hehe.  I have my next OB appointment next week and an ultrasound scheduled for a couple weeks after that.  Nick will be able to join me for the ultrasound and I'm so excited for him to get his first look at LB and watch him move around.

LB has really started moving.  I feel the kicks more often and they are getting a lot stronger.  He started growing his finger and toe nails and he can hear and recognize my voice now.  LB weighs about 10.5 ozs and is about 10 inches long from head to toes....the size of a banana!  I read that you can her the baby's heartbeat with just a stethoscope, we haven't tried it yet, but I'm gonna dig my out right now and try it out....

St Patty's day

I can't believe these pictures were taken just a year ago!  So much has happened from that crazy time, moving from Maryland to Michigan, back to Maryland and then to Texas!  Thankfully we won't have to think about another move for a few more years :) Brenna was just such a little bean then, just over a month old......all cheeks!

And now here she is cheesing it up for the camera....

A little mama love xoxo
  Always on the move

19 weeks

I've been feeling pretty well, lots of round ligament pains, which I'm surprised about.  I kinda figured they'd be used to this.  I'm tired pretty often and sleep really well until around 4 am.  Then about half the nights I am out of bed and on the couch where I can catch a couple more hours of sleep.  So far it's been working out ok.

LB is the size of an heirloom tomato this week, at 6 inches long and weighs about 8.5 ozs.  His sensory developments are really taking off and he is becoming more purposeful.  He can suck his thumb and moving around.  He can also hear noises and my voice....  so exciting!!!

18 weeks

So, things are getting better.  I feel a LOT better and other than being tired and achy, I am eating and drinking more.  I am back to my pre-pregnancy weight and have gained about a pound a week for the last couple weeks, which puts me on a good track.  Some of my pants refuse to be buttoned a couple days ago so I have resorted to my belly band and started organizing my maternity clothes to get ready for the wardrobe transition.  I've fell in love with BLTs this week and ate them for a couple days in a row.  I could drink gallons of root beer.  It never seems to sit well after I've drank it, but it sure tastes good going down.  But enough about me...

LB can hear and startle with loud sounds.  Of course I can't tell if this is happening or not but I do feel HIM move mostly at night.  Nick was able to feel an itty-bitty kick a couple nights ago.  LB is developing a sleep-wake cycle and the lungs are growing little air sacks.  He is the length of a bell pepper (about 5.5 inches) and weighs about 7 ozs.

ohhh, he's kicking right now....

15....I mean 17 weeks!

So, the good news is that I had my first ultrasound and Drs appt yesterday.  The baby was measured and I am 17 weeks along (slightly further than my estimation).  It was super exciting to see the heart beat and watch the baby move a bit.  Everything is looking good, and we got a couple ultrasound shots to take home.  Unfortunately the sonographer must have just clicked on any two pictures because the ultrasounds are pretty crappy.  No cute profile shot or anything, it actually looked more like a snow man with 3 blobs (NOT 3 babies, just to clarify.  The head, the belly and a leg).  Hopefully next time we'll get something cuter :)

More good news is that I haven't gotten sick all week.  There were a couple close calls, but this is serious progress!  Still not much of an appetite.

So, it's pretty exciting to skip ahead a couple weeks (I'm darn near the half way point).  LB is moving and I did feel something a couple nights ago.  That is really my favorite part of being pregnant, just a fun little reminder that there is a little bundle of joy in there.  Also, I don't think you ever grow out of grossing your sister out....and she was sooooo creeped out whenever Brenna moved.  hehe.  Anyway, LB weighs as much as a turnip, about 5 ounces and is about 5 inches long from head to rump.  We're really working on making the lungs and exercising them.  We're just starting to layer on the baby fat so LB will be a little chubs like  their sister was.  Baby is drinking and peeing now.

Oh and we found out the gender..............................

14 weeks

I've started to feel a little better, which is about the same time as I did with Brenna.  Of course, I still threw up the day after this picture was taken.  I'll be so happy to be done with that nonsense.  My food aversions have lightened up a little.  I still don't have any cravings but don't gag when I put food in my mouth anymore.  I had my OB 'orientation' yesterday.  Basically it was meeting with the OB nurse and them getting some general information (not even vitals), ordering blood tests and an ultrasound and scheduling me my first Drs appt.  Since the nurse thought I might be further along than what I think, she made my appt as soon as possible and the ultrasound as well (I totally appreciated this) and both will happen on Wednesday.  So, we will FINALLY have a due date and start really planning some stuff.

I had to laugh when I looked at this picture....you can see the reflection of Brenna trying to get to Bella (who has to be put on the bed, otherwise ends up in EVERY picture)

LB's face is coming together, the eyes are moving into place and the nose is developed, hair is starting to grow everywhere.  The body is practicing for the real world by peeing and making breathing movements.  It's the size of a lemon this week, about 3.5 inches from head to bottom and weighs about 1.5 ozs.
